Chapter 593: Laraweg

Seth was too tired and failed to control his strength. He had underestimated the power of the draconic titan fire. The two figures, which were shortly visible when taking the brunt of the attack, were reduced to charred corpses before his eyes.

“Whoops…”

Maybe he had overestimated them after they took the Salamander Fire and were just fine. Now he was unable to harvest their soul. He could only do with what they dropped naturally, which was nothing.

He was too tired to really care and just wanted to get home. Unsure what to do with the bodies, he simply through the soul fire at them, letting it take care of the clean-up.

This attack had only strengthened his decision, that he had to do a little more. He didn’t know whether these two were cultivators or fellow locals that worked with them, but he knew that a normal Oathguard would have most likely died in this attack.

On the other hand, he was also a little excited about how well his new armor had worked. They might have been able to run away if it wasn’t for Tisiphone’s Mirror.

He returned to Minas Mar and fell asleep the moment he touched the bed.

In the morning he informed Mary and the others about the assassination attempt. It wasn’t that it had any impact on him, but he cautioned them. The enemy seemed to know quite a bit. It was possible they would start aiming for them individually.

They made sure to distribute the message to all members of Minas Mar.

Only after communicating this did Seth return to the Workshop. He wanted to finish his helmet before he put some time into his new project.

For the enchantment, he chose another poem of Phenex, the demon known for his singing and poetry. This time he aimed for Apollo’s aspect of singing. He simply saw it fitting to put that on his helmet.

He etched the poem in a single line along the crown of the helmet where it glowed in a dim silver light. It was a short poem with only one verse, that praised the demon’s angelic voice. This left enough space for another two enchantments.

The ones he chose were the advanced formations of Willpower and Intelligence he placed on the drawn-back cheek guards. With the enchantments done, the only thing left was to insert the liners he had Neeco Boos prepare beforehand.

After making sure that everything sat well, he judged the helmet to be finished. It was time to move on to the soul forging.

The blacksmith had to drive a hard bargain on this one since Tano’Mol initially wanted a whopping 50 Gold for it. This was-

The soul of an old mermaid well-versed in evil sea shanties, that have drawn many sailors to their demise. A creature with the upper body of an old hag and the lower body of an eel..>

What even were evil sea shanties? But it was definitely a creature versed in singing. Seth had to admit that shaping the soul into a helmet was a lot easier than making a real helmet. Once the sea witch’s soul was the spitting image of the finished helmet, Seth began with the Olympian enchantment.

His face turned serious and concentrated as he began. The calm presence in his back, looking over his shoulders this time was Lethe, the goddess of the river of oblivion. The waters of her river helped souls forget about their previous life, so they could go on to be reborn, or enter the afterlife without any burdens.

Now, Seth was not keen on losing his memory, so he took this enchantment very seriously. The presence behind him was cool, like a pleasant breeze on a warm summer day. The Sigil were four water lines in a circle, depicting a river.

It was very simple, but maybe it was because it fit the very existence of Lethe. Once one had lost all their memories, what was left was the very core of their being, just like the Sigil, only showing the bare minimum to symbolize what it meant to symbolize.

The blacksmith imagined the presence behind him smiling, just a little bit, but he could have been wrong. He placed the engraving on the crown of the soul helmet. When he finished the engraving, nothing happened. He could feel that it was finished and the blessing had been granted, but the engraving did not grow like the others. It stayed the simple circle with the four wavy lines symbolizing a river.

Maybe his assumption was still right, in the end. He proceeded to fuse the soul into the helmet and dunk it into the waters of Styx.

Using divine and legendary materials, coupled with godly and demonic powers he created a piece

that is seeking its equal. A helmet to make any bard jealous.

Requirements: Seth Smith >

The passive skills had easy-to-understand effects.

The range of your song is improved by 3 times.>

The effects of music in combat are improved by 150%>

Your voice has an enrapturing effect, able to send weaker listeners into a trance. Triple the effect on sailors and sea folk.>

The real gain was the Blessing of Lethe.

The user gains immunity to effects that affect the mind or memory. Your mental power is doubled.>

This took away one of Seth’s biggest fears, which were strong mind-controlling effects or similar skills that could manipulate him. Because of his years of reading, he had an especially high distaste for these kinds of effects, that could make allies fight each other.

The bard was not afraid of a situation where his allies were manipulated, as he was confident that his own skills could offset these kinds of tricks. However, what could the others do, if he were to fall?

Lastly was the active skill . It allowed Seth to manipulate where his voice was perceived from, within a range of 30 meters. It seemed like an interesting skill if he managed to connect it with the illusion skills his belt granted him.

After finishing Laraweg, another name he didn’t know where the system took them, he equipped all the pieces he had finished so far and tested their fit. Standing in front of the mirror, his heart rate rose.

Looking like a dark knight, with a sleek demonic aura, he couldn’t help to feel a little excited. One would always feel excited about getting something new, but this was something he created himself. That made it even better.

After marveling at himself and striking poses in the mirror for close to half, he pulled himself together. The day was still young and he wanted to start on something else.

The blacksmith spent the rest of the day working out the blueprint for his maybe most impact full project.
