Chapter 569.2: Edavia (2)

The clash between the Savior and Light Devourer was still ongoing when Roel finally regained his senses. The shockwaves produced by the clash shook the entire continent. Most races could be seen escaping in a flurry from this crisis.

Both the Savior and Roel were using Sia’s powers. A battle of this tier was beyond what others could intervene in. Be it the mighty Giants or the Angels, they could only watch this tug-of-war with uneasy hearts and await the conclusion.

In the sky, the Savior’s complexion was slowly turning pale. His rapidly depleting energy was shaking the stability of His Divine Domain, but even so, He was confident of achieving victory. As long as he held on for just a while longer, Roel’s soul would disintegrate on its own.

Without Roel, Light Devourer would lose the authority to harm Him.

The Savior knew that victory was drawing close as Roel’s body slowly turned translucent, and a triumphant smile emerged on His lips.

Just as it looked as if Roel’s soul was about to fully dissipate, a sudden mana pulsation rippled from him. His body began to solidify once more as his dried-up soul revitalized.

“Impossible!” the Savior exclaimed in horror.

Before He could even think of a way to terminate this inconceivable phenomenon, the silver-haired man raised his head to look at him with glowing eyes.

“What did you do?!” the Savior furiously questioned with a livid face, hoping to uncover the secret behind the enemy’s sudden return to life.

However, Roel simply gazed at the sky and calmly made his declaration.

“It’s over.”

“What?”

“Everything is now in place. You can struggle, but your death is inevitable.”

“You seek to kill Me? What blind arrogance. Did you think that you could kill Me just because you have barely reached My altitude?” the Savior replied with eyes blazing with rage. “The most you can hope to do is to harm My physical body, even if you sacrifice all of your God’s Envoys. When it comes to souls, that fragile soul of yours won’t be able to faze Me in the least.”

Watching as Light Devourer tore down His defenses one after another, the Savior was already resolved to abandon His physical body if necessary. Even if He were defeated here, He was confident that He could survive this ordeal and make a comeback in due time.

It was not without reason that He was deemed to be a supreme being.

Or at least, that was what He thought till a childlike voice reached His ears.

“His soul is indeed insufficient, but what if I put mine on the line as well?” Edavia said with an amused chuckle.

“!”

The Savior widened His eyes in horror.

Darkness suddenly emerged out of nowhere, causing the brilliant sky to flicker in uncertainty. A terribly cold and malevolent aura engulfed the world, as if someone had opened Pandora’s box. Other than the two clashing floods of light in the sky, the rest of the world had been plunged into cold darkness.

Those from the Savior’s faction lost their protection. Those from the Mother Goddess’ faction dared not to cheer aloud. Everyone could subconsciously feel a vague pressure crushing on their souls.

This pressure came not from an individual but from their surroundings. Only those from the Mother Goddess’ faction had felt this pressure earlier, and this allowed them to identify the true face behind this phenomenon.

It was a Divine Domain.

A third Divine Domain had been constructed on Dragon’s Gorge, the sacred land where the Savior had awakened. This should have been an impossible feat, and the ease with which this miracle had been achieved chilled the soldiers on the battlefield.

The Savior, the master of this land, revealed unprecedented fear.

The instincts He had inherited from Sia were practically screaming at Him about the danger He was in. Feeling the unusual mana and sinister aura that had encroached on His Divine Domain, He was suddenly reminded of a frightening existence.

That was a forbidden entity known only through the legends, the oldest Sovereign who ruled over the aberrations that had unintentionally been spawned when Sia first created the world. It was the first and last Spiriteer Sovereign, as well as the first evil god of the world.

Its name? Edavia.

Upon realizing the identity of His enemy, the Savior frenziedly unleashed a blinding light to block Roel’s attack. He knew that He couldn’t afford to lose His body and bare His soul before an existence like Edavia. He wouldn’t stand a chance at all.

His struggle proved to be futile, especially since He had just lost His Divine Domain.

In comparison, Roel’s strength had just reached its peak. With a furious roar, he compressed his mana to its very limit and hurled a punch toward the man in the sky.

A six-colored aurora surged forth like a spear of heresy to tear down the sky. Infused within this spear were the powers of the Six Calamities—Glacier Creator, Sire Darkness, Tempest Caller, Shrouding Fog, Flooding Death, and Light Devourer. These six entities resonated with Roel’s soul, unleashing an attack that harnessed their combined prowess.

“No!!” the Savior cried angrily.

He hurriedly formed multiple light barriers to resist the six-colored aurora, but the defenses He put up were easily breached as if they were flimsy sheets of paper.

The spear of heresy swiftly pierced through His chest, splattering golden blood all over the air. The power of the Six Calamities immediately flowed into His body through His injury to unleash their pent-up wrath on Him.

A fiery inferno seared His left arm. A deathly miasma violated His right arm. Ice crystals slowly crept up His chest, as a mana-consuming aurora rampaged within His body. It only took mere seconds for the Six Calamities to break down the Savior’s body, forcing His soul to escape.

Under the cover of the golden sun, the Savior discreetly fled toward the east, unhesitatingly abandoning all of His soldiers on the battlefield.

Roel noticed His escape, but he didn’t order the Six Calamities to pursue Him, for he knew that he had already completed his mission. Edavia’s Divine Domain had already closed off the surrounding area.

With the Savior’s escape, the sun in the sky abruptly vanished and boundless darkness settled upon the world. All kinds of eldritch horrors manifested from the darkness, be it inverted towers, whipping vines, bleeding boulders, or shadowy manifestations.

The Savior was momentarily startled before it dawned on Him where these eldritch horrors were from. They were Sia’s failed creations during the world’s inception. These monsters could inflict harm just by coming into contact with others.

Yet, they cheered at the sight of the Savior and rushed over as if to welcome their newest member. Furthermore, an ominous aura was swiftly closing in on Him.

A little winding path appeared beneath the Savior’s feet, as if a passageway to guide the lost. The monsters stopped in front of this path before raising their hands toward the Savior to usher Him in.

This path was clearly a trap, yet it was the Savior’s only path of escape. Not daring to dawdle around, He hurriedly flitted through the winding path. What awaited Him at the end of the path was not light but an orange-haired girl.

“!”

The Savior’s soul jolted. He instinctively understood who the orange-haired girl was.

Edavia calmly raised her hand toward the glowing soul rushing in her direction. Darkness began converging toward the center of her palm, morphing into a black hole. Her huge Divine Domain began to swiftly contract, almost as if she was hauling in her net after having captured her prey.

Faced with the threat of death, the Savior frenziedly flared His soul and emanated a blinding light to expel the darkness collapsing on Him. His struggle was in vain. No soul could hope to oppose the ancient Spiriteer Sovereign.

“I will be taking your soul. Farewell, rascal.”

“No!!”

Leaving those impassive words behind, Edavia’s silhouette faded into the darkness.

Her Divine Domain contracted its darkness into a single point. There was a moment of silence before the contracted darkness jolted like a beating heart. Then, a colossal explosion broke out, dragging the Savior’s soul toward its doom.
