Chapter 2

Nelly POV

My eyes fluttered open, and I found myself lying on the cold marble floor with a dull ache in my head.

Groggily, I sat up, realizing I was still on the balcony.

It was morning already, and the sheer sight of the cloudless sky filled me with despondency.

Last night was depressing, and the effect of Astel’s brutal rejection was still taking a toll

on me no matter how hard I tried to overcome it.

Gradually, I got to my feet and then hurried out of the balcony until I reached the pack house.

I made sure I avoided being seen by anyone, and just as I was about to take the stairs, I stumbled into

someone.

My cousin, Shantel! I stumbled backward and I looked up to see her vicious gaze puncturing me.

“You wh ore!” She roared hysterically, lunging forward at me fiercely.

I jumped as I moved back in three steps; she was the last person on earth I’d ever want to face right

now at the moment.

“What the hell were you doing with Astel on the balcony last night?” Shantel hissed, and then she

gripped my hair. “Tell me, you little bi tch!”

“Ah! Please, I… ah!” I cried out, wrestling with her as she shook my hair. “Let go of me!” I begged,

trying to pull away. “I didn’t do anything, I swear!”

However, Shantel was having none of it, her expression was vicious and hysterical.

“You’re lying!” She shouted in my face, her eyes twisted with rage.

“I’m telling the truth, let go of me!” I whined, hurtfully.

Yet, Shantel was still agitated; she raised her hand, and slapped me across the face, hard.

“Ah!” I gasped, stroking my stinging cheek as tears welled up in my eyes.

“You bit ch! Stay away from my man, do you hear me?!” Shantel barked, pushing me angrily.

I wobbled on my feet and fell to the ground, my arm hitting the floor with a sickening crunch.

“Mhm,” I hissed in pain, my arm bleeding.

“Nelly!” A gasp from the end of the hallway, and when I looked up, I saw Aisha standing in front of me,

her eyes wide with horror.

“Oh my G od, Nelly!” she cried, rushing to my side. Just as she was about to help me, at growl erupted

behind us.

“Stay away from her, Aisha!” Carl snarled, his face contorted with a frown. “This is between Shantel

and Nelly. Let’s go!”

Carl was the Beta’s son and Astel’s best friend. Aisha became powerless, and I knew she had to obey

her boyfriend.

“I’m sorry, Nelly,” she muttered helplessly before stepping back and standing behind Carl.

There, there, there, Shantel cooed, walking dangerously towards me, and I quivered.

Shantel is a crazy bi tch, and I knew the limits she’d go to just to see me hurt.

Through the corner of my way, I saw Aisha glaring at Shantel when she grabbed my hand. I knew she

was infuriated seeing me hurt, but she couldn’t do anything, not with Carl by her side.

“You’re pathetic,” Shantel sneered at me, her grip tightening on my arm.

“Plea-please let… let me go, Shantel,” I whimpered painfully, but Shantel was uncompromising.

“Listen to me you wh ore! Astel is mine and mine alone, do you hear me?” she raged.

I whined hurtfully, unable to say a word, as my eyes wordlessly pleaded with her to let

me go.

Just as Shantel raised her hand again to strike me, a deafening roar reverberated throughout the entire

pack house. Everyone froze, their eyes wide with fear.

Then, we all saw the source of the roar: It was the tallest man I have seen in my entire life. I couldn’t

see his face well but from where he stood I could feel the strong, fierce and angry aura coming from

him.

“Stand back!” He suddenly growled.

A wave of shock overwhelmed everyone. Who was protecting me!

I couldn’t decipher who it was because I knew no one was as tall as he is in my pack so who could he

be and I wasn’t informed we had any visitor in the pack.

“Alpha Rex” I suddenly heard Shantel whisper in panic and I immediately felt fear seeth through my

body

The atmosphere was intense, everyone broke into cold sweats even I was terrified.

But that didn’t stop me from wondering why he saved me: I learned he was a ruthless

Shantel cowered away from me. her eyes wide with terror. “I-I’m sorry. Alpha.” she stammered. backing

away. I didn’t mean to…

But Alpha Kex cut her off. his voice full of fury and irritation. “Get out of my sight!”

In the blink of an eye. Shantel turned and fled like a bat out of hell. And just like her, everyone scurried

out of the pack house with their hearts in their mouths.

Alpha Kex strode towards me, his power radiating from him like a force field.

I could now see his face well. I had heard stories of how handsome he looked or how his face looked

so cold and emotionless at the same time but looking at him now he looked absolutely breathtaking. He

had close to a perfect face shape and even his figure looks perfect. Even his ocean blue eyes was

unique and perfect.

I tried recoiling but was too weak to make a move as the formidable alpha reached me. and suddenly

he carried me in a bridal style and I stilled.

My eyes widened with shock. Did he just..?

As Alpha Kex carried me, his intoxicating presence overwhelmed me and I subconsciously snuggled

into his chest, comforted by the warmth and my hands suddenly found its way to his arms and I felt

how huge and strong they felt. I felt him stiffen, but that didn’t make me cower as it somewhat felt safe

in his arms

When I looked up at his face through my half-lidded eyes, his unearthly gorgeous face was stern and

unreadable.

My head was reeling, and I felt so tired, so weak. Finally, I surrendered to the exhaustion and fell back

into a deep sleep..

Slowly. I woke again. my eyes fluttered open, and I found myself in a familiar room- the old space I

called my room.

When I struggled to sit up on the bed. I was still feeling groggy and disoriented.

“How did I get here? I thought and then tried to remember the previous events of the day.

The door creaked open, and Shantel stepped into the room. I could smell the fear wafting off her, but

she remained expressionless.

“You are summoned.” she said. her tone dismissive, as she crossed her arms on her chest.

I was surprised; this was unlike her. Who could it be that Shantel was so afraid of?

“Alpha Kex wants to see you!” Shantel added uneasily.

Alpha Kex?!

Hearing that name alone. my heart ski pped millions of beats, and my eyes widened.

Why was he summoning me?
