Chapter 942 Lay Bare

Baffled, Nicole retracted both her arms and left.

When the men saw her leaving, they hurried after her, each taking one side. Neither one of them was willing to

concede.

Nicole finally couldn't hold it in anymore, and she demanded with her eyebrows pulled together, "What the hell do

the two of you want?"

"Nicole, I'm only worried about this man hurting you!" Zachary huffed. He had his guard up as he glared at Colton.

Hearing that, Colton scoffed and let out an amused smile before he cruelly dropped the bomb. "I don't think Nicky

told you, President Yates, but I slept in the same bed as her last night."

Zachary's body immediately went stiff. He knew something was wrong when he was outside her door this morning,

but he didn't think much about it.

So that's why… A hurt look appeared on his face.

Nicole was surprised that Colton would blurt that out, but it didn't seem right for her to explain herself now.

Zachary's expression went blank for a moment. However, he soon put on a faint smile and calmly uttered, "I don't

mind."

Colton narrowed his eyes and scrutinized Zachary with a sharp gaze. He didn't expect Zachary to be so forgiving

and unbothered.

"What a generous man you are, President Yates." Colton laughed. "I would never allow my woman to be with

another man."

Zachary only let out a smile that didn't reach his eyes as he calmly looked at Colton. "Nicole is not an object, and

neither do I own her. I will not make her decision on her behalf."

A laugh slipped from Colton when he heard that. He glanced back at Zachary and drawled, "I'm sure you didn't

know this, Zachary, but Nicky and I have done the deed on the night we got engaged."

These words that were neither solemn nor casual immediately made the three of them fall silent.

Zachary might look as unperturbed as his usual self, but one could see that he had balled up his fists upon a closer

look.

She quickly turned pale. Even though this was the truth, she couldn't help feeling somewhat helpless after Colton

revealed everything.

She then turned to look at Zachary's face. There wasn't anything different about his expression, but from all the

years she spent with him, she could tell that he was trying his best to not lose his temper.

"Zach…" she whispered.

When he heard her voice, he lowered his head and turned to her with his lips pursed. It was eerie how calm he

looked. He only asked after a moment, "Nicole, was it consensual?"

Consensual…

She was drunk then, but it did happen when she yielded after making a show of resistance.

In other words, she wasn't forced into it.

"Zach, I…" She opened her mouth to explain herself, but she realized that she couldn't come up with an

explanation.

Even though she had rejected Zachary many times now, he had never minded once. To Nicole, Zachary was

someone who pulled her to a safe place when she was in her darkest moments. She didn't want to hurt him.

And yet, things had ended up in this kind of sh*tshow.

Zachary was suddenly hit by a realization when she hesitated to speak.

He smiled bitterly and quietly chuckled for a while, but when he slowly lifted his head, the look on his face had

already returned to normal. However, his eyes were filled with sadness beyond comparison.

"I understand." After he said that, he turned around and left without speaking another word.

It was only after he got in his car and drove off that Nicole felt like she had just awoken from a dream. As she

watched him leave, she called out, "Zach!"

Colton laughed when he saw how heartbroken she was. "You are reluctant to let him go, aren't you? You are

greedy, Nicole."

Nicole stopped in her tracks and whipped her head around to glare at him. Seeing the mocking expression he had

on immediately made her blood boil, and she demanded through gritted teeth, "What gives you the right to speak

when you know nothing?!"
