Chapter 945 Hayden Has a Fever

"Zach, I—" Nicole was about to say something when Zachary interrupted her.

"I know what you are going to say, Nicole. I did some thinking last night, and I put together my thoughts. You have

always rejected my confessions. I was the one who kept pressuring you with my feelings."

His voice as he slowly said those words sounded bitter.

He then smiled and continued, "I've known that you don't like me from the very start. I was the one who was fooling

myself into thinking otherwise. I'm sorry for putting that kind of stress on you, Nicole."

Nicole couldn't help noticing that something was off when she listened to his voice. She quickly shook her head and

denied, "That's not it, Zach—"

"Enough, Nicole." He cut her off and added softly, "We can still be friends, no matter what, right?"

She hummed in response.

"That's good, then. Nicole, I have some minor things to take care of at my company, so I won't be accompanying

you. You have… Colton by your side. You probably don't need me anymore," he stated. Suddenly, he sounded

relieved when he joked, "Actually, my father arranged a blind date for me a long time ago. This isn't too bad. I can

let you go now."

Nicole didn't know why, but she felt as though a needle had pierced through her chest when she heard his words.

All the words she wanted to say to him were stuck in her throat.

Zachary had always been this way. Even if they were parting ways, he would find a perfect excuse just so he

wouldn't get hurt.

Nicole painfully swallowed everything she wanted to say. She had tons to tell him, but she ended up only saying a

few words. "Zach, I'm sorry…"

"It's alright." He let out a faint chuckle. "You should get some rest, Nicole. I'll go back and hang out with you and

Hayden after I'm done with work."

He immediately hung up after saying that.

Nicole only lowered her head and looked at her phone as all sorts of emotions welled up inside her.

Because of her pregnancy and fatigue, Nicole spent three days recuperating in the hospital before she was back to

being her usual self.

During this period, she also went to see Betty, who had already gotten used to the new environment. It turned out

that Nicole didn't need to worry much about her.

Colton came to see Nicole a few times throughout the time she was hospitalized, but he stayed quiet the whole

time and took care of her as a responsible nurse would. He never mentioned the child or Zachary.

On the third day of resting, she got a call from Siobhan, asking her how everything was.

"Everything is going well," Nicole reassured.

Only after hearing that did Siobhan say, "Hurry home, then. Hayden has a fever. He keeps asking for you."

Nicole's heart dropped. "Hayden has a fever?" she asked, panicked.

"Yes. The weather has suddenly gotten colder lately. It's my fault for not taking care of him well. We are at the

hospital now. He fell asleep after getting an IV drip."

"Got it. There's nothing much for me to do here. I'll be back as soon as possible," Nicole answered. She was

extremely worried about her son.

Hayden had always had a weaker constitution. He only got better as he grew up, and he hadn't gotten sick these

years. Considering that and how he suddenly had a fever now, Nicole couldn't help worrying that something would

happen.

"Okay. I've dispatched the family's private plane. I'll give you a number later for you to call. Tell the person to come

and pick you up," Siobhan informed.

It was only then Nicole remembered that the Gould Family was in the aviation industry.

"Thank you, Madam Gould."

Nicole hung up the phone after giving her thanks.

Immediately after that, she received a text message consisting of a series of numbers from Siobhan.

She didn't even hesitate to click on the number and make a call.
