“Stuart!”

Winnie did not expect Stuart to hide a blade in his watch dial. Thus, she immediately yanked off the

unique necklace around her neck and prepared to find an opportunity to counterattack him.

Meanwhile, Stuart had no idea Winnie’s necklace was a custom-made weapon, so he did not realize

the potential danger he was facing.

As for Xavier, he had seen what Winnie did with her necklace. So when he saw her ripping it off, he

immediately pulled her toward him.

Pulling her into his embrace, he whispered, “Keep the necklace away. It’s not the time for that. We have

reinforcement waiting outside.”

Winnie frowned and turned around, staring at Xavier in confusion.

Reading the puzzled look in her eyes, Xavier explained softly, “I already called the police. They have

snipers with them.”

A hint of surprise flashed across Winnie’s eyes. She lowered her voice and asked, “When did you call

the police?”

Xavier answered in a voice only the two could hear, “I saved us a backup plan and let someone call the

police when Stuart was brought over. That’s why you don’t have to make a move now, and you

shouldn’t make any reckless move either.”

Upon hearing that, Winnie instantly understood the situation. She silently placed the necklace away

and tried to negotiate with Stuart to stall time by saying, “Stuart, let my granny go. We can talk things

out!”

“Let her go?” Stuart laughed out loud. “Do you think I’m stupid? How can I possibly make my escape

without a hostage? Now, prepare a car and the cash for me, or you can prepare to hold a funeral for

this old woman!”

“Believed me?” Stuart glared at Rufus. “Should I bow and kneel to you just because you believed me?

You are the main reason why I am who I am today! Since you chose to keep me with the Fairchild

family back then, why couldn’t you be impartial? If I had everything Benjamin had, do you think I would

have become like this?”

“How dare you try to get everything your brother has? Don’t you know how much your character and

capabilities lack behind him?” Rufus reprimanded angrily, “Also, stop talking like I never tried to do so!

You’re the one being too greedy!”

“Hah! Too greedy? Why do you make me sound like a huge sinner when I only wanted a larger portion

Without even blinking, Stuart drew the blade lightly across Jacinta’s neck.

The blade was very sharp, and Jacinta did not feel any pain at first, but she lowered her head and

immediately saw blood seeping out.

The glint in her eyes gradually dimmed as she saw her patient’s gown slowly dyed in her blood.

As if she was stimulated by the scene and had lost her mind, Jacinta started repeating that sentence.

Stuart was highly irritated by everything, so when he heard Jacinta repeating that sentence, he could

“Deal. Just wait here!” Winnie told him before turning around to tell Xavier something.

Xavier glanced at his phone screen and lowered his voice as he told Winnie, “The police have cleared

the whole area, and the snipers are in place now.”

Winnie nodded and looked at Stuart. “We are preparing the car and cash now. Can you move that

blade away from her while waiting?”

“Absolutely!” Stuart had no intention of taking his blade away despite saying that. Instead, he swept a

quick glance around the ward and said, “Tell everyone else, including your bodyguards, to stay back!”

“All right. I can do that,” Winnie hurriedly agreed and gestured at her bodyguards to stay further away

from Stuart.

Stuart was very cautious. When he saw the bodyguards moving, he grabbed Jacinta and started

moving backward. He was afraid the bodyguards would suddenly make a move on him.

He backed away and soon reached the window.

Since he had been monitored for the past few days, Stuart had subconsciously developed a habit of

glancing out the window whenever he was near one.

He immediately noticed something wrong with his surroundings by just taking one glance.

They were inside a huge hospital, yet no one was walking around outside the building, not even the

hospital staff, patients, or patients’ families. It was rather unusual.

Growing suspicious, Stuart carefully observed several cars parked not too far away from the hospital

building. Sure enough, he noticed the cars were packed with passengers.

It’s August. The summer weather is insane. Why are there so many people cramped in each vehicle?

Stuart immediately realized what was going on. He drew the curtains behind his back and grabbed

Jacinta as he yelled at Xavier and Winnie, “You called the police, didn’t you? Do you want this old

woman dead? Tell the police to get lost, or I’ll kill her now!”

Jacinta had been murmuring the same thing repeatedly all this while. When she heard Stuart

threatening to kill her, she immediately raised her volume and shrieked, “You are my son! You want to

kill me! You want to kill me, so I will bite and kill you!”

At that moment, Jacinta was no longer fearful of anything. She lowered her head and bit into Stuart’s

arm fiercely. She exerted so much strength into that bite that she almost tore off the flesh on Stuart’s

arm.

Stuart hissed in sharp pain and couldn’t move his injured arm. Thus, he grabbed his blade with the

other hand and slashed it at Jacinta.

At the same time, the police barged in and warned Stuart to put down his weapon, but their warning

failed.

Several bodyguards also tried to rush up to hold down Stuart.

Realizing that he might not get to escape in this situation, Stuart stood up and slashed a bodyguard’s

throat with his blade.

His eyes turned almost crimson-red as he yelled at them, “Let’s fight to the end then! I’ll make all of you

come to hell with me!”

Stuart had utterly lost his mind at that moment and threatened to kill everyone in the ward. His behavior

was extremely hostile.

The police immediately took the measure of shooting after their warning fell on deaf ears and with the

situation turning so critical.

With a loud bang, Stuart collapsed to the floor.

Immediately after, Josiah and the doctors waiting outside the ward rushed inside and began treating

the wounded at the scene.

The ward instantly became chaotic.

Seeing Jacinta being carried onto a stretcher, Winnie held onto Xavier’s hand tightly and followed

behind.
