It was because James barged out of the cyclones by using the Dawnblaze Form. With the Terrastride Step, he walked over to the huge black ball.

And every step he took, a ball of black-and-white light would appear under his legs. When he took the next step, the previous ball of black-and-white light would explode. It was full of danger.
