Lisa's heart fluttered with disbelief, struggling to comprehend that Megan could be so callous as to plot harm against Aurelia's child. Such a thought was unfathomable and utterly intolerable for any woman.

Aurelia sighed. "Sweetheart, it was her, not the baby, who tried to poison us." She wished her son's childhood to be carefree, untainted by the hatred festering among the adults.

But William, blessed with a high 1Q, was inevitably destined to mature faster than his peers.

"Mommy, she doesn't love her baby. She only wants the baby to usurp Kane's place as the heir. | won't let her succeed," he declared with resolve.

Arnold stroked William's hair and reassured him, "Don't worry. We won't let her get her way. Becoming the heir of the Stirling family isn't that easy." Lisa took a deep breath, steadying herself inwardly.

All she yearned for was love. She'd be more than content if Arnold showed even the slightest affection towards her.

Considering Megan's wild ambitions and her ploys to seize the family fortune, it was no wonder Leopold wanted a divorce.

To change the subject, Aurelia suggested, "Arnold, why don’t you go and check on Nova? She's adorable and looks so much like you." William, with a finger pressed to his lips in a shushing gesture, took Arnold's hand.

"Daddy, Nova is asleep. We've got to be quiet." He tiptoed towards the room, his comical seriousness making Arnold nearly burst into laughter.

"Don't worry. Newborn babies aren't so easily woken. You, my boy, used to sleep right through thunderstorms," Arnold reminisced softly.

"Nowadays, thunder does wake me up," William admitted in his childish voice.

Right then, the baby stirred awake, crying plaintively.

The nanny attending to her quickly said, "The baby must need a diaper change. I'm on it." William promptly turned and covered his eyes, heading for the door. "Boys aren't supposed to watch girls get their diapers changed. Call me when you're done." Arnold affectionately patted his son's head. "Looks like you do love your little sister." "Mhm, having a little sister is pretty cool," William grinned.

After the nanny had changed the baby's diaper, Nova seemed to sense her father's presence and started to look for him, making baby noises.

Aurelia approached, smiling. "Arnold, Nova's looking for her dad. Why don't you hold her?" Lisa had mentioned earlier that Arnold hadn't yet held the child, and Aurelia was sure she longed for him to show fatherly affection towards their daughter.

Arnold's lips curled into a half-smile. "She's so tiny. I'm afraid | might not hold her properly and hurt her. I'll wait until she's a bit bigger." Aurelia chuckled. "She's not even a month old, and her neck is still delicate, so we should be careful." She playfully delighted the baby in the crib. "Little princess, Daddy wants to hold you, too, but you're too small.

He's afraid of hurting you. When you're a bit bigger, Daddy will hold you." Her words were also a comfort to Lisa.

Aurelia believed Arnold would come to adore his daughter. After all, she was his flesh and blood.

Hearing Aurelia's words did put Lisa's heart at ease.

She trusted that Arnold would come to love their baby girl when she grew older, especially since she was pretty and resembled him that much.

Checking the time and realizing it was almost noon, Aurelia was about to leave with William to grab lunch. She had to head to the office later.

Arnold picked up his son. "I've got to go, too. I'm busy prepping for a photography exhibition." Stepping out of the villa, Arnold ruffled William's hair. "Little buddy, what do you and Mommy want for lunch?" "Pizza." "Alright, then pizza it is." Arnold smiled, concealing melancholy deep within.

Honestly, he wished Aurelia wasn't so kind to Nova. He'd rather see her get jealous, which indicated she still cared about him. But then, he felt she was drifting further and further away from him.
