Chapter 702

“Amelia, what you’ve said is wrong,” Irene calmly remarked while sitting at the table, leisurely sipping her coffee.

“Don’t you blush when you lie in front of a child? Back then, you were jealous of me being with Warren, so you

deliberately pushed me down the stairs, attempting to take two lives with one fall. Fortunately, I survived, but sadly,

the child in my womb…”

Irene spoke, deliberately looking at Aiden, “If my child were still alive, he would be about the same age as Aiden

now.”

“Irene, shut up!” Amelia said, fully aware that Irene was deliberately making those statements in front of Aiden.

Conflicts between adults should not spill over to involve children.

“Are you feeling guilty? Otherwise, why would you get so worked up?” Irene smiled faintly, stood up, and walked

slowly toward Aiden.

“Do you know? Back then, your daddy and I were together, but your mommy was jealous because your daddy liked

me. So, she hurt me and the baby in my womb. Just think about it, your mommy killed a child the same age as

you!”

Irene maintained a smiling demeanor but uttered such harsh words in front of the child.

Aiden was a precocious child, and he could

understand Irene’s words.

“That’s not true! Mommy didn’t do that! Mommy told me she never hurt anyone!” Aiden shouted at the top of his

lungs.

“That is just a lie your mommy told you. If she didn’t hurt me, why did she go to jail? People in prison are usually

bad people!” Irene said as she reached out to touch Aiden’s face.

“Don’t touch Aiden!” Amelia forcefully pushed Irene’s hand away, fearing that she had malicious intentions toward

Aiden.

However, she hadn’t expected that her action, which was meant to be a simple push to deflect Irene’s hand away,

would turn into something more dramatic. At most, it was supposed to cause Irene’s hand some brief discomfort.

Nevertheless, Irene was thrown back as if she had been hit with a tremendous force. Her whole body leaned back

exaggeratedly, and her back hit the tablecloth, which in turn tore it, causing all the objects on the table to suddenly

fall on her with a tumultuous clatter, leaving her in a disheveled state.

“Ah…” Irene cried out in pain.

Ivy hurriedly rushed to Irene’s side, supporting her. She yelled at Amelia, “You’ve hurt Irene once. Isn’t that

enough? Do you want to hurt her again? How can you be so malicious?”

Thomas seethed with even greater anger as he exclaimed, “If anything happens to Irene, I won’t let you off the

hook, Amelia!”

As Amelia observed the scene before her, she clearly understood that the people from the Fletcher family were

deliberately framing her and doing it right in front of Aiden.

“Are they trying to manipulate Aiden into believing that I’m truly a malicious person? Even resorting to such a ploy.

However, if their intention was merely to sow misunderstanding in Aiden’s mind, why did Irene go to such lengths to

make herself look so disheveled? They could have used a simpler method unless it’s…”

In Amelia’s mind, a particular suspicion fleetingly crossed her mind. Just then, the door to the private room abruptly

swung open, and a familiar, cold voice rang out, “What’s going on here?”

Amelia’s body stiffened in an instant, and her breath caught in her throat.

The suspicion that lingered in her mind suddenly became a reality in that fleeting

moment.

Irene actually wanted Warren to witness the scene and wanted him to condemn her once again.

‘Why? Why would Irene go to such extremes? I’ve already stepped back, but apparently, a person’s heart can turn

so malicious.

Even though Irene was about to marry Warren, she still conspired to frame me marry Warren, she still conspired to

frame me again. But to Warren, I’m merely someone he despised. What was there to frame me for?

Was she worried that Warren might develop feelings for me again?’ Those thoughts raced through Amelia’s mind,

and she was on the verge of laughing at the absurdity of it all. She raised a hand and gently removed the hearing

aid from Aiden’s ear.

She didn’t want Aiden to overhear the ensuing conversation, as it would be too cruel for him.

The animosity between adults should not cast a shadow of hatred on her child’s heart. She didn’t want Aiden to live

in hatred in the future.

She only hoped that Aiden would lead a happy life in the future.

Aiden was stunned. He looked up at Amelia in confusion, not understanding why she had suddenly removed his

hearing aid.

“Irene, don’t you think what you’re doing is useless? In the past, when you tried to frame me out of fear that

Warren might develop feelings for me, it might have had some semblance of reason. But now, even if I were to die

in front of him, he would only see me as an obstacle to his perception. With me in this state, what’s left of me for

you to plot against?” Amelia’s tone grew cold. “Or is it that your relationship isn’t strong enough to require this

constant suspicion and plotting?” Irene seethed with intense inner resentment, wishing she could tear Amelia’s.

mouth apart. But for now, she had to continue pretending to be “feeble”.

Of course, in truth, she was in considerable pain, as the items from the table had indeed fallen onto her.

Ivy, who was standing next to her, began to berate Amelia, “You wicked woman! You’re jealous of Irene, and you

pushed her on purpose to hurt her. Fortunately, I found the coffee here too hot and had it replaced with a cold one.

If it had been hot, Irene’s face would have been disfigured. Amelia, you’re so cruel!”

Thomas joined the rebuke, saying, “Amelia, what has the Fletcher family done wrong to you that you would go to

such extremes to hurt Irene? She willingly treated your son as her own, and yet you acted impulsively without any

reason.”

“Did you cause this to happen to Irene?” Warren asked sternly, grabbing Amelia’s arm and demanding, “Why did

you do this?”

“What if I told you she was the one who framed me? Would you believe it?” Amelia replied calmly, seemingly

unconcerned by Warren’s anger at that moment. She gently pulled Aiden closer into her embrace with her other

hand, cradling his small head.

She didn’t want Aiden to witness such an ugly scene.

Aiden seemed a little frightened at that moment, his body trembling and his tiny hands clinging to both sides of

Amelia’s clothing.

“Why would Irene frame you? What could you possibly have that would make her plot against you?” Warren asked

angrily. The words she had spoken upon his entrance to the private room still echoed in his mind, and he found

them extremely irritating.

He couldn’t understand why, even though he had explicitly told her not to die before him and not to cloud his

perception, hearing those words from her mouth made him feel repulsed.

“You should ask Irene that question. I also find it strange why she would want to frame me.” Amelia used almost all

her strength to pull her hand from his grasp.
