Chapter 749

Rosalie stood up and gently hugged Lillian. “Sorry for making you sad.”

“What are you talking about? I just hope you can be fine and not be affected by the pain of the past. After all, life is

all about moving forward, isn’t it?” Lillian sniffed and forced a smile at Rosalie.

However, tears welled up in Rosalie’s eyes when she saw her friend’s smile.

Even though Lillian herself was in the middle of a heartbreak, she always hid her pain and put on an optimistic smile

for others.

“I’ll be fine. Don’t worry about me. You are the one who should live well. Get better quickly. Once my children are

born, you’ll have to be their playdate,” Rosalie said.

“We’ll all get better.” Lillian returned the hug and resolved inwardly, “I’ll let go of Callum. I’m sure of it. My

relationship with Callum will just be a part of my countless memories. From now on, these will only be memories.”

As the weather grew colder, the closer it was to the new year.

Rosalie stroked her stomach gently. She had not seen Jonathan for several days, and she had been thinking about

what Lillian said to her these days.

“Life is all about moving forward,” Lillian had said.

Rosalie asked herself if she loved Jonathan, and the answer was yes.

If she did not love him, she would not have been in so much pain after the merciless truth was presented to her.

She also would not be so hesitant if she did not love him.

Rosalie loved Jonathan, the man who once looked at her coldly as he watched her go to prison.

In the past, she had sworn to treat him well and not leave him as his mother did to his father. Now…

Rosalie flipped through the photos on her phone. In those pictures, Jonathan kept his palm on her stomach with a

face full of tenderness and affection.

The picture was taken in his office when he wanted to feel the children moving in her stomach.

She was truly happy back then.

Rosalie raised her phone/and called Jonathan’s number. He got the new number after she bought him a cheap

phone.

That phone only contained her contact information.

The call only rang twice on the other end of the phone and was picked up by someone. Then, a familiar voice

sounded, laced with a trace of caution and disbelief. “Rosie…”

“It’s me,” Rosalie answered. “I… The new year is coming in two days. Can I have New Year’s Eve dinner with you?”

“Okay! Of course!” His voice sounded nervous and a little delighted. “Let’s have New Year’s Eve dinner together. I-

I’ll prepare it. You can let me know whatever you want to eat.”

“Okay,” Rosalie said gently.

After the call ended, she looked down at her bulging abdomen again. “My babies, why don’t you help me forget

those unhappy memories? I don’t want to regret forever like this. Is that all right?”

On the other end of the phone, Jonathan showed obvious joy on his face.

“Rosie is still willing to eat New Year’s Eve dinner with me. Does that mean she won’t leave me?” he thought.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the room’s door.

“Come in,” said Jonathan.

Carlos entered the room and reported to Jonathan, “Mr. Youngblood, Yvette has escaped from prison!”

Jonathan’s expression changed abruptly, training his dark eyes on Carlos. “What happened?”

“According to the news from the police station, Yvette broke out of prison at about 3 a.m. this morning. The

detention center’s surveillance cameras were hacked, so there was no surveillance at that time. We don’t know

who helped Yvette break out of prison for now,” Carlos informed.

Jonathan was silent as he pondered, “Was it the Hamilton family or the Xanthos family? Was it a crazy fan of Yvette

who has the capability? Or perhaps…”

“Send someone to keep an eye on the Hamilton and Xanthos families to see if they made any moves. Also,

continue to find Mr. Wilmer. We must find him as soon as possible,” Jonathan ordered.

He could not rest assured until he found Kurt. Jonathan kept thinking something might happen.

“Could Mr. Wilmer’s disappearance be related to Grandpa? Grandpa… Did he say something to Mr. Wilmer?”

Jonathan wondered.

Everything could only be revealed when Kurt was found.

As New Year’s Eve arrived/Rosalie finally met Jonathan again.

He wore a black coat and combed his hair back, accentuating his delicate features even more. His tall figure

exuded elegance, but the scarf and gloves he wore then seemed to be out of place.

Rosalie recognized the scarf and gloves she gave him a year ago. She had unraveled the knitting of old sweaters

and reused them for the scarf and gloves.

Jonathan approached her and asked, “What’s the matter? Why do you keep staring

at me?”

“N-Nothing, it’s just… I was surprised you would wear these scarf and gloves,” Rosalie uttered. As soon as he

approached her, she could not help but recall the truth she heard that day on the stairs.

She tried to convince herself not to think about it.

“You made them for me. Of course, I have to wear them,” he said. Then, he took off the scarf, gloves, and his coat.

His hand almost subconsciously wanted to touch her, but it paused in the air as he hesitated for a moment. Then,

he withdrew his hand and said, “Take a rest. I’ll prepare the New Year’s Eve dinner.”

“You’re going to prepare?” Rosalie was stunned for a while.

“There is a chef here, too. You can think of me as the helper,” he explained. Although he could also prepare the

New Year’s Eve dinner, his cooking was incomparable to the chef. He had no choice but to help them out. Instead,

he would make all the desserts for the New Year’s Eve dinner.

Rosalie watched in a daze as Jonathan entered the kitchen. He wore an apron, rolled his sleeves, and started

working with the chef in the kitchen.

In an instant, tears welled up in her eyes.

“He’s a good husband and will be a great dad in the future. Didn’t I already know “He’s a good husband and this?”

she thought.

She sat on the couch in the living room and reminisced the memories of their interactions.

When Jonathan came out of the kitchen, he noticed Rosalie had fallen asleep on the couch, a blanket covering her.

The couch was wide enough, and he was not worried she would fall off. Besides, she was accompanied by a

caretaker.
