Chapter 863

Since he didn’t feel pain, what difference did it make if the wound healed quickly

or slowly?

“Even if it doesn’t hurt, not treating an injury properly may affect your overall health in the future. For instance,

your leg only has a superficial wound this time, but if you hurt your bones and didn’t treat it because it doesn’t hurt,

you might end up walking with a permanent limp.” Rosalie tried to explain using simple

words.

Zekiah remained silent, seemingly pondering her words.

Rosalie continued, “Would you like to go to a different home to live with me and Mr. Youngblood? That way, nobody

will ever hurt you like this again, and you won’t have to suffer these injuries.”

The young boy’s face suddenly took on a guarded look. His gaze directed at Rosalie changed. He looked fierce, like

a small beast ready to pounce at any

moment.

At that moment, Rosalie felt as if the boy was looking at her as an enemy, and her heart ached.

Jonathan took a step forward, standing between the boy and Rosalie, as a precaution against any potential

aggressive actions.

“We don’t want to separate you from your sister. We just want to give you a better life,” Jonathan stated firmly.

“I won’t leave Karrie!” the boy stubbornly replied, shouting at Jonathan like a small animal warning a much larger

beast.

Jonathan stared at the boy’s face, his eyes narrowing as if he were examining the child more closely.

Just then, school ended, and students started coming out. When the boy Karina, he immediately ran to her and

hugged her tightly.

“I will never leave you,” he said, his expression resolute.

Karina, with her backpack, asked curiously, “Who wants to separate us?”

Zekiah’s eyes turned to Rosalie. At once, Karina ran over to Rosalie. “I thought you were a good person, but you

want to separate me and Zeki. Let me tell you, we won’t be separated. I’ll work hard and save money to pay you

back for the medical bills”

“You can pay me back for the medical bills whenever you can. I don’t want to separate you and your brother. I just

wanted to adopt your brother to give him better life. Rosalie explained.

“No need. I will take care of Zeki Karina insisted, holding Zekiah tightly. “I will take good care of him. He’s my

brother, and he belongs in our family. He won’t

leave us!”

She turned to Zekiah, asking, “Zeki, am I right?”

“Yes, I only want Karrie to take care of me, Zekiah said firmly.

With the two siblings hugging each other tightly, Rosalie seemed like the villain, and students and parents in the

vicinity were staring.

“It seems this child is not willing, and his sister won’t agree either. Let’s go back,” Jonathan said.

Rosalie sighed and nodded. Before leaving, she told the siblings, “If you ever need. help, you can call me at this

number. I won’t bring up the adoption again since you’re not willing”

With that, Rosalie handed a piece of paper with her phone number to Karina. After hesitating for a moment, Karina

finally accepted it.

Before they left, Jonathan glanced at the boy again, seemingly contemplating something.

Back in the car, Jonathan remained silent, his head bowed. Rosalie finally asked, “What are you thinking?” Only then

did he suddenly come back to his senses and smile slightly. “Nothing. Let’s head back to the Youngblood residence.”

Later that night, a figure arrived at the memorial hall. Jonathan entered the hall and looked at the black and white

photograph of his father hanging above.

In the photo, his father had a warm and gentle smile. His deep eyes were filled with a soft radiance, like the warmth

of sunlight.

If he were to ignore the radiance in those eyes and just look at the shape of the eyes, they bore a certain

resemblance to the boy he had met today, named Zekiah. When he had first seen the child at the amusement

park, he had only given him a cursory glance and hadn’t observed him closely.

Even though Rosalie had shared some information about the child, it was only today that he had a proper look at

the child’s face.

Initially, he hadn’t thought much of it, but as time passed, he realized the child’s eyes bore a resemblance to his

father’s.

However, the gleam in those eyes was different!

He slowly walked into the inner chamber, where a picture of a woman was placed beside his father’s tablet. It was

the woman who had left him and his father.

The woman’s features had been etched into his mind for many years.

Now, as he looked at the photo of the woman, he couldn’t help but notice the resemblance between her and Zekial.

The child’s lips, forehead… They looked alikel

Even the curve of the earlobes was similar!

He wondered. “Is that possible? Could it be as I suspect? Is this child an orphan,

adopted by the Burton family? The notion of the child being an orphan seems to fit. If this child is truly connected to

my family, why did Mr. Wilmer give the child to the Burton family? Or was it a mere coincidence? Did the Burton

family desire a child and formally adopt one? How did the child find his way into an orphanage after leaving Mr.

Wilmer’s care?”

At that moment, numerous questions filled his mind, but there was no one to provide the answers.

Jonathan’s lips were pursed. After a moment, he took out his phone to dial a number. “Investigate a five–year–old

boy named Zekiah Burton. I need all the information on his background and the family that adopted him.

Additionally, find an excuse to collect a blood sample from the child.”

Regardless of the circumstances, he needed to thoroughly investigate whether his suspicions were correct.

As Jonathan gave these instructions and put his phone away, footsteps approached. He looked up and saw Rosalie

coming toward him.

“Why are you here?” Rosalie asked. She had put the two children to bed and only found out he was at the memorial

hall through the housekeeper.

She knew he didn’t like coming here unless it was All Souls‘ Day, Thanksgiving, or his father’s death anniversary.

Usually, he would only come when he was in a bad mood.

Today wasn’t any special day, so Rosalie guessed that he was in a bad mood
