Chapter 931

Looking into her son’s eyes, she could not help but be scared. His gaze was sharp and calm as if he could see

through her at any time, and it seemed to be a silent condemnation of her back then.

“The doctor said that you will be hospitalized for about a week. We’ll go back to Lofbury after that. No one will know

about this,” Connor said.

Kaylie nodded gently. Thinking that she wouldn’t come back to Strico in the future after returning to Lofbury this

time, she said, “Connor, before we leave, I want to go to Lucian’s grave and have a look. Throughout my life, the

person I owe the biggest apology to is him. I want to apologize to him in person.”

“Let’s talk about it with Rosalie then. It should be fine,” Connor said. “You just have to control your emotions and

don’t let them notice anything.”

At that moment, someone carefully handed over a bottle of blood sample to Carlos in the laboratory of the hospital.

“Here’s what you asked for.”

“Good. Don’t let anyone know about this,” Carlos warned.

“Yes, I understand,” the other party answered.

Carlos took the blood sample and went back to the car. He dialed Jonathan’s phone number. “Mr. Youngblood, I

have the blood sample.”

“Okay, let’s go as planned,” Jonathan said coldly and then ended the call. His dark eyes fell on the stack of

documents in front of him.

They were the information on Kaylie. Kaylie’s full name was Kaylie Cook. He recalled that this name was not his

mother’s name, but she had the same last name as his mother. That was the last name he hated.

Strangely, the oldest information that could be investigated was 25 years ago. It was said that computers were not

widely available back then, so a lot of information was not retained and could not be found.

“25 years ago…” he thought.

The information also stated that 25 years ago, Kaylie had been in and out of the cosmetic surgery hospital many

times. It was said that it was because of a robbery that the gangster disfigured her face, so she had to undergo

plastic surgery.

However, the photos before plastic surgery could not be found at all, and even the archives in the hospital were

gone as if they had been deliberately removed.

“Kaylie Cook… Is she the woman I’m looking for?” Jonathan wondered.

Despite the lack of concrete evidence at present, the information gathered from these investigations only served to

intensify his suspicions.

That was why he had asked Carlos to go to the hospital and get Kaylie’s blood sample. As long as he tested her

DNA, he could know the real result.

He could tell if this woman was his mother.

Knock! Knock!

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Jonathan came back to his senses and found that he had been lost in

thought. A sense of fear rose in his heart.

“What am I afraid of? Am I afraid that Mrs. Smuckler is really my mother who abandoned me? Am I afraid of facing

that woman again? Or am I actually afraid of Rosie’s choice? What will she do when the time comes?” Jonathan

wondered.

“Come in.” Jonathan put away the documents on the table.

When the door was pushed open and Rosalie walked in, Jonathan was stunned. He had been thinking about Rosalie

just now.

“Why are you here?” Jonathan got up and walked forward.

“I came from the hospital and sent the kids to their classes, so I thought I’d drop by to see you,” Rosalie

said. “Mrs. Smuckler’s operation went well. The doctor said that she could be discharged in a week.”

“Really?” Jonathan said indifferently.

“If you’re free, accompany me to the hospital to see Mrs. Smuckler,” Rosalie said. “Speaking of which, you haven’t

seen them since the first day.”

“Do you really want me to interact more with them?” Jonathan asked.

“To me, they’re like family. They took care of Jen and me when we were in Lofbury. I sure hope you get along with

them, and you can only build a relationship with them if you interact with them more,” Rosalie said.

“What if I say that I can never get along with them?” Jonathan asked abruptly.

Rosalie was stunned. “What’s wrong? You don’t like Mr. and Mrs. Smuckler?”

“No. I just want to ask who you will help if we can’t coexist peacefully,” Jonathan said.

Rosalie smiled. “If you guys can’t coexist peacefully, then we’ll just live our own lives. They’ll go back to Lofbury. If I

want to see them in the future, I will go to Lofbury by myself. Jon, I won’t ask you to please the people I like for me.”

After all, Connor and Kaylie had been kind to Rosalie, but not Jonathan. Jonathan could treat them like family, but if

Jonathan couldn’t, Rosalie wouldn’t force Jonathan.

Jonathan’s eyelashes trembled slightly, and his eyes darkened when he saw Rosalie’s smile.

If everything was exactly what Jonathan had guessed, Connor and Kaylie might not be able to go back to Lofbury

smoothly, and Rosalie would have to choose a side.

“Promise me that no matter what happens in the future, you won’t stand against me.” Jonathan stared at Rosalie.

“Why would I stand against you?” Rosalie smiled and stroked Jonathan’s cheek with her inflexible finger. “Jon, I will

stand by you no matter what!”

Jonathan looked around and then smiled. His smile was beautiful. “Well, remember what you said to me today,

okay?”

“Okay, I’ll remember. I won’t forget it!” Rosalie said as though comforting a restless child. Jonathan raised his hand

and gently pulled Rosalie’s hand to his lips and kissed it.

Perhaps it was for the best that the end result was not his guess.

“Rosalie, I will be discharged from the hospital in two days. Connor and I have bought tickets to go back, but before

we go back, I want to visit your father-in-law’s grave and pay my respects. After all, we see you as a daughter and

we see him as an in-law,” Kaylie said.

Rosalie was a little surprised. After all, Connor and Kaylie had already paid their respects to Lucian in the memorial

hall last time. Yet, they wanted to visit Lucian’s grave now.

“His grave is over at the Youngblood family’s private cemetery. Outsiders are not allowed to enter,” Rosalie said,

looking troubled.

“Really?” There was obvious disappointment in Kaylie’s tone.
