Chapter 966

A man in a police uniform continued pointing his sniper rifle at Madeline. He was unmistakably on guard, ready to

shoot another bullet if the last was not fatal.

However, it seemed the chances of Madeline surviving were low. Rosalie stared at Madeline, twitching on the

ground. Then, she noticed a device rolling out of Madeline’s pocket, and Rosalie’s expression changed slightly.

The device resembled a remote control with a countdown. Now, it was counting down from 8, 7, 6…

It was a timer.

‘Was Madeline fiddling with this timer in her pocket?

What exactly is this device for?’ Rosalie suddenly had a bad feeling, but Madeline could no longer speak by then.

After her body convulsed for a while, she stopped moving, as if announcing the end of her life. Then, Jonathan

rushed forward and grabbed Rosalie’s arm. “Let’s go! I’ll take you to the hospital.” As he said that, he bent down to

pick her up.

“Jon, this timer-” An explosion suddenly went off before Rosalie could finish her words, and the whole building began

to shake.

It was a bomb.

Rosalie froze and finally understood what the timer in Madeline’s pocket was used for. It was a device to detonate

the bomb.

“Everyone, get out of here!” Jonathan ordered.

Those who could work for Jonathan were naturally skillful. Within a short time, they had already started looking for

the best escape route.

The helicopters hovering in the sky lowered the rope ladders. These helicopters could carry some people

away.

The explosion continued, and some parts of the abandoned building began to crack. It could collapse at any time.

Jonathan held Rosalie and tried to hold their ground.

“Lillian! Hurry and get Lillian on the helicopter!” Rosalie shouted. Her friend was pregnant, and the safest way to

leave was via helicopter.

“Don’t worry! Someone will take Lillian to the helicopter,” Jonathan assured.

As he expected, immediately after he spoke, two people had already arrived at Lillian’s side and led her to climb

the rope ladder put down by the helicopter.

Seeing her friend holding the rope ladder and slowly climbing up, Rosalie finally calmed down a little.

“We should go, too.” As Jonathan spoke, he quickly tore off her sleeve and used it to press on the wound on her

neck first, fearing that she would bleed more. “Don’t worry about anything else right now. You only have to grab

onto the rope ladder and climb slowly until you reach the top, got it?”

He instructed while carrying her toward the rope ladder nearest to them.

Rosalie leaned against Jonathan’s chest. He was not wearing a top then, and the freezing rooftop wind made his

chest feel icy.

However, she felt particularly at ease because he was there. It felt like she did not need to worry at all with him

here.

Jon, you saved me again,” Rosalie murmured. “Just now, if Madeline didn’t get distracted, do you… You didn’t really

plan on stripping naked, did you?”

Even though her neck would hurt every time she spoke, she still could not help but ask him the question.

His dark eyes stared at her. “What if I did plan to do that? If she weren’t distracted, I’d continue stripping. If she

keeps holding you hostage until the end, and I can’t find an opportunity to save you, even if she wants me to crawl

like a dog, I’d do it.”

Rosalie’s eyes were full of shock as she stared at Jonathan, thinking, “This prideful man would do so

much for me?”

“Why? Don’t you believe me that I’d go that far?” Jonathan asked.

She shook her head with difficulty. “N-No…”

“It doesn’t matter whether you believe me or not. I’m willing to throw everything away to save you. So, what about

you? If I’m in danger one day, will you also come to save me, no matter what?” He asked as if directing the

question to himself rather than her.

He did not intend to wait for her answer at all. He carried her toward the rope ladder and carefully put her on the

ground where many cracks had been formed. Then, he let her stabilize herself before pulling the ladder over.

Just then, another loud explosion sounded.
