Chapter 2377

Even the thought of confronting Balfour made Ivy’s skin crawl. Why was he looking at her that way? Did

everything change just because Mara had come back?

But deep down, she knew the truth. If she dared to voice these questions, she’d be admitting defeat.

No one would be more pitiful than her.

In the game of love, those who fall deeper are often at the mercy of the other. She was stuck in this

quagmire, and she didn’t want to add to her embarrassment.

Yet, alone in her room, she couldn’t help but curl up and weep over Balfour’s doubts.

If only time could be reversed, Ivy thought wistfully. She’d go back to the moment before she fell for

Balfour if she could.

In the hospital room.

Mara was still fuming at Balfour from her bed, her body turned away in a silent protest.

How could he just take that woman’s side? She had been injured because of this, and yet he was still

defending Ivy. The more she thought about it, the more her disdain for Ivy grew. She was convinced Ivy

must’ve played dirty; Balfour was too smart to be fooled otherwise.

It was one thing for Mara to say it, but she knew her words might not carry enough weight. She decided

it was time to get some others to talk some sense into him.

“Don’t worry, I’ll sort this out for you,” Balfour promised. “Just rest now, and I’ll go grab something for

you to eat. Any cravings? I’ll jot them down and have the family chef whip something up for you.”

His words were a clear sign of giving in, and Mara finally relaxed back onto her pillow. “Remember, you

said it,” she reminded him.

Seeing Mara finally talking to him eased Balfour’s mind slightly.

“I’ll head out and grab some stuff for you.”

But as he was about to leave the building, Alyssa’s call caught him off guard.

“Grandma, what’s up? Is everything okay?”

Alyssa’s voice came through the phone, filled with concern, “What’s going on? I’ve been trying to call

you. Your granddad and I are worried sick, thinking something might’ve happened to you. Did you help

Ivy tidy up her dorm today as I asked?”

Balfour felt a twinge of guilt, and his silence immediately tipped Alyssa off.

“You and your memory! Ivy’s still recovering, so how is she supposed to manage on her own? Did you

forget about such a big thing?”

Alyssa was livid. If it weren’t for Dean and Balfour holding her back, she’d have been over at lvy’s dorm

by now.

Balfour could barely make out Dean’s voice in the background, “Oh come now, it’s not like we forbid

you. Aren’t you just getting over a cold? Ivy’s vulnerable right now. What if you pass it on to her?”

Rolling her eyes, Alyssa retorted, “Whatever the excuse, you two always seem to have all the answers.

I don’t care. If you don’t go and help Ivy out, I’ll pack my bags and go stay with her for a month. I’ll

make sure she’s back in tip-top shape before returning.”

Alyssa was known for her swift and decisive action, and after all that had happened today, Balfour

didn’t want her disturbing Ivy.

“Don’t, Grandma. The set is crowded and hectic. Please, don’t add to Ivy’s troubles, okay?”
