Chapter 1777

At this thought, Sheila glanced at Marlinie, Bertha, and the little girl, Lea, standing by her.

This woman was quite attractive, and she brought a child?

Damn! Could it be her father’s illegitimate daughter?

They just got rid of Ellinor, so they didn’t need another troublemaker!

Sheila frowned suspiciously. “Who are you? What business do you have with my father?”

“I’m an old classmate of your father’s. I need to discuss something with him.”

Old classmate? Sheila didn’t buy it and wasn’t inclined to cooperate.

“My father’s off fishing at the moment. He won’t be back for a while. If you need to see him, you should come back

another day.”

Marlinie, however, wasn’t looking for an easy exit. “Fishing all day? We’re not in a hurry, so we can wait inside for

him.”

Sheila’s frown deepened. Was this woman planning to stick around?

“I’ve told you that my father isn’t home, and I don’t know you. I can’t let strangers in. If you need to see my father,

call him yourself! Now, move aside; I need to get inside and take care of my skin. It’s been blemished by this

scorching sun.”

With that, Sheila stepped past Marlinie and Bertha in her high heels, unlocked the door, swiftly entered the house,

and closed the door behind her.

Marlinie tried to follow her in, but she was too late.

Bertha guessed whose mansion this was. “Marlinie, since he’s not home, we should leave and come back another

day.” She suggested.

“Bertha, you can go back with Lea; I’ll wait here for Arnold. I need to clear some things up today, or I won’t be able

to sleep!”

She wanted to ask Arnold why he had lied years ago. Why did he tell her that her daughter was dead when she was

alive and well?!

What did he gain from this?

Her daughter had been sent off to the countryside, while Arnold lived comfortably. He even had the leisure to go

fishing?!

Since her friend was so determined, Bertha said no more and decided to wait with her, letting Lea tag along.

How could she leave her friend alone in this situation?

Meanwhile.

As soon as Sheila entered the house, she quickly called her mother, Tracy.

Tracy was busy playing poker and took a while to answer the phone. When she finally did, she sounded impatient.

“Sheila, what is it? I’m busy!”

Sheila retorted. “Mom, what could you possibly be busy with? Playing poker? Listen, two women around your age

showed up at our door. They’re looking for Dad! They also brought a child with them. It doesn’t look good, Mom. If

you don’t come home soon, your husband might be taken away by these women.”

Tracy gasped. “What?! Where did these women come from? Is your father home?”

“Dad’s not home; he’s not back yet. That’s why I’m calling you to come home and get rid of those women before

Dad gets back. If Dad sees them and takes a liking to them, where will that leave us?

You know that ever since that little vixen Ellinor stirred up trouble here, Dad hasn’t been paying much attention to

us. I’m currently unemployed. If Dad abandons us, we won’t even have a place to live!”
