Chapter 1782

After she finished singing her own praises, Sheila hurriedly went back to the kitchen.

After setting down his fishing gear, Arnold lazily settled himself on the couch, waiting for his pot roast.

In no time, Sheila emerged from the kitchen with a bowl of rice and pot roast. The meat was so tender that it

practically fell apart when touched by a fork.

“Dad, give it a taste. How is it? I just learned to make this for you.” Sheila coaxed him.

Arnold, ravished by hunger, didn’t think twice. He picked up the pot roast, blew on it to cool it down, and took a

mouthful.

It wasn’t bad at all.

After savoring the delicious meal, Arnold’s mood lightened significantly. “Well, you do have a knack for cooking. In

the future, you should help your mom more in the kitchen.”

Sheila, initially pleased by her father’s praise, frowned at the mention of cooking more.

“Dad, if you have any favorite dishes, I can learn to cook them for you from time to time. But if you’re asking me to

cook every day, I just can’t do it. I have to go for auditions, and I need to take care of my skin!”

The mention of auditions irked Arnold. “You’re still thinking about acting? What did I tell you on the phone? Get a

down-to-earth job and stop dreaming about being a star!”.

“Dad, I’m not dreaming! I used to be famous, remember? You were happy then. Why won’t you support my career

now?”

Arnold huffed. “You still haven’t cleared your head! You crossed the Blanchet family. Who would dare go against the

Blanchets to support you? Even if you do have a chance to regain your fame, one word from the Blanchets could

ruin it!”

Sheila jutted her lips in defiance. “What happened with the Blanchets was years ago. It doesn’t matter now.

Besides, I hear Ellinor’s husband, Mr. Blanchet, disappeared years ago. Ellinor is just a widow in the Blanchet family.

Without Mr. Blanchet, the Blanchets hold no regard for Ellinor. Dad, you’ve supported Ellinor for years, but when it

comes down to it, I’m the one here for you. You should support me!”

Arnold, unaware of the Blanchet family’s situation, was taken aback by the news of Mr. Blanchet’s disappearance.

He waved his hand in irritation. “Alright, alright, spare me the drama. If you want to act, then act. But the day you

can’t make a living out/ of it, don’t come crying to me!”

Sheila, displeased, was about to retort when her mother, Tracy, who had just rushed home, interrupted her.

“Where are they?! Where are they?! Where are those two women?! I didn’t see anyone at the door.” Tracy bustled

in, not noticing that her husband and daughter were in the room.

Sheila quickly cleared her throat to draw her mother’s attention.

Upon seeing Arnold, Tracy’s face fell. “Uh… Arnold, you’re home early today?”

Arnold frowned at her. “What women were you talking about?”

Tracy was a bit sheepish. “Uh… well…”

Not knowing how to evade Arnold’s question, Tracy sought help from her daughter.

Sheila, quick to react, chimed in. “Oh, Dad! Two ladies came looking for Mom to play poker earlier. I sent them away

without telling Mom. She probably thought they were still here.”
