Upon hearing her murmur, Balfour decided to stay and confront Diana, feeling he was

inching closer to the truth.

He had come to realize that Diana was exceedingly cautious, a far cry from the arrogant

figure he had imagined. Rather than responding to provocation, she seemed indifferent to

others.
